Look Of The Week

Look Of The Week

This week it’s all about boohooMAN. Now the sun is out I went for the ripped distressed blue slim fit jeans. These are one of my favourite pair of jeans and if you keep your eyes peeled boohoo are always doing discount and like me you could pick these jeans up for a bargain £15. The white noise T shirt is not a look you would usually see me in. It’s rare I wear a baggy T shirt but I loved the print on this one. It’s comfy and can be worn in the summer and winter under a jacket. This T shirt is just £5 and is a must!!

Ascot Garments London

I came across this brand on Instagram like most of the online brands I find. This was a more established brand with a fair few followers. The quality is really good and the fit is perfect. Most guys these days like myself, are looking for slim fit/ muscle fit & longline T shirts which is how their T shirts fit. I am wearing size medium in the pictures below and also have their snap back on. I particularly love the camel colour T. The T shirts are £29.99 so a reasonable price. They are releasing more on more products so give these guys a follow on Instagram ‘ascotgarments’ and follow their movement. Also check out their website www.ascotgarments.com I promise you won’t regret it!

I will be hoping to try out their new products once released.

I went to Amsterdam for a long weekend in January 2017. From all the stories I had heard about it being a seedy place and everyone just going there for a stag do or to smoke weed I was genuinely surprised. Maybe as I travelled on a Sunday and missed the weekend it might have been slightly quieter.

The flights are so cheap and your literally up then down it roughly takes 50 minutes from London Gatwick. I picked up a return flight for under £50!!

When I arrived you can pick up a transport card which gives you access to busses and tram lines you can get a 72 hour one which is around 20 Euro and it’s amazing. That is one thing I must highlight the public transport is one of the best I’ve seen. The tram lines are easy to use and are everywhere so walking is limited if you want that. Be wary of he trams though as you could easily get knocked over so have your wits about you.

I stayed at a really nice hotel the WestCord fashion hotel and it was reasonably priced. It’s just outside the central Amsterdam with a tram line located 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Rooms where great and it had a pool and gym to. Use Booking.com for hotels.

There is also a really nice sky bar in the hotel which unfortunately I did not get to try out but did pop my head in. Sometimes it’s nice to have the option for drinks at your hotel.

I have listed a few things to do in Amsterdam:

The Sex Museum – your in Amsterdam so you have to try this place it’s only 4 euros each and very small so your be in there for 20-30 minutes unless your one to analyse. It’s actually fascinating seeing the history of sex and how far it dates back to. If your going as a couple don’t worry loads of couples go here!

The I Am Amsterdam sign- there is actually 2 of these and they are always busy so best bet for a great photo is to choose a letter to sit on or in. The sign is one of the classic generic photos people get so you have to go here.

Anne Frank House – If your interested in history this is a must. The famous AnneFrank House, the story of a Jewish family hiding from the Nazi. I would pre book as the Que if you don’t is huge. If you pre book you walk straight in, it’s around 9 euros each. Be aware once inside you are not aloud to take photos unless your very sneaky. The house is pretty cool and the history behind it is fascinating.

The A’DAM lookout- not many people knew about this when I spoke to people who have been to Amsterdam. I personally would definitely recommend this lookout. You can pre book so you get one free drink on arrival. It’s basically their version of the shard. It’s around 20 Euro each and look over Amsterdam and the right time it can be beautiful and for couples very romantic. You can get the generic photo when you arrive and once up there they have a nice restaurant and bar with seating area all around. There is also a giant swing that hangs over the edge but I wasn’t brave enough for this! To get across to the A’DAM go to the back of the station and get the ferry which is free and runs every 5 minutes.

The Red light district – If you mention Amsterdam this will always be talked about. Whether your going with friends or in a couple you have to talk a stroll through here. They do guided tours but you can just go yourself which me and my fiancée did. If you want to avoid it when it’s really lively go around 8-9pm when the workers begin to show up. It’s so surreal seeing these women in windows but you have to walk through for sure. I heard a lot about dodgy guys trying to lure you away for drugs then rob you so just be aware of your surroundings me personally I didn’t have one issue or see any of that.

The Canal – when visiting new countries I love walking around you get more a feel for the place and see the world passing by. The scenery is amazing and the canal running through the city gives it a real special feel. There is loads of small bridges to take amazing photos so pick your perfect spot! A lot of people enjoy hiring a classic bike the majority of people in Amsterdam own.

Food and Cafes – like us I would do your research luckily I have my amazing fiancée for this (the organised one). You can find loads of amazing places to eat and cafes to have to nice snacks and drinks (not just the pot cafes). I personally don’t smoke so stars away from their famous cafes. You will find a few food places in Amsterdam in my food section on my blog.

Any questions about Amsterdam just let me know!

Have you been to Amsterdam or thinking of going? If you do you have to check out this amazing pancake cafe. I don’t think I’ve met anyone who doesn’t love pancakes! It’s all freshly made and they do really nice freshly made juices to.

The pancakes are incredible not only that they play really cool R&B music which you wouldn’t hear on the radio. Great pancakes and great atmosphere what more can you ask!

Fitness

Fashion in the gym has exploded in the industry recently every high street shop has their own range. Don’t get me wrong I love all the sports brands Nike, Puma, adidas etc but at a cheaper price it’s great we now have the option. I have a few gym tops from Primark and have no shame in saying it at a bargain price of £6. Below you can see me wearing their camo gym top. The fit is great and it does the job.

Look Of The Week

Look Of The Week

This weeks look is all about the adidas original peach T shirt. I actually really like this colour and once I have a tan will look even better. I found this T shirt using the Mallzee app and you can find them on Instagram under the same name as per my picture below. Really useful app for shopping, quick and easy to use. Also the staff are really friendly if you have any questions 😃

Also wearing my brown aviator ray bans from ASOS. Primark Jeans at a bargain price £10 then just ripped the knees myself (saves paying extra for rips) and old classic Nikes which are pretty rare these days.

Iceland Reykjavik

Hotel: City centre

The hotel was in prime location with all restaurants and bars on your door step. It was a lovely hotel with a nice restaurant inside and small gym. Be warned if you go on a weekend the bars get lively and the music is loud until early hours. Just round he corner is the tourist information centre where you can book all your trips and they are really helpful. Most trips pick you up from the hotel reception which is great!

Trips

Hot springs – This trip was really cool seeing the different hot springs some small some very big be warned don’t get to close some are up to 100 degrees! The main hot spring spouts steaming water 20 metres or so in the air it’s amazing! It does get cold but don’t worry like most trips there is a cafe that sells hot drinks and hot takeaway food.

Gulifoss or more know as Golden Falls- This place was breathtaking literally! When you arrive here you can either stand at the top view point which is about 100 metre walk or walk down some steep steps to a better view point. Some brace people even step over the mark and walk right down but I would not advise this especially in the winter. As you can telll by my picture it’s freezing so make sure you take the right clothes (unlike me) this is probably the coldest I’ve been in my life! I visited this and the hot springs on the golden circle tour.

Blue Lagoon – this is not far from the airport so even if you ever stop there you can quickly visit the blue lagoon. Just get the basic package as they give yo free mud bath products while your in the water. For the changing rooms you can either swim from inside or be brave and bare the cold. It’s probably the most surreal place I’ve been in giant natural geothermal pool you can see the steam coming off the water from a far. They have small bars in the water you can a selection of drinks and you get free mud masks. It’s funny seeing everyone bobbing around drink in one hand with face masks on. A amazing place and if like me you go as a couple don’t worry there are quiet areas and cos of the steam you can’t see very far in front of you. If you want to take photos go pro is best of buy one of those bags to put your phone in.

Northern Lights – On arriving we initially planned to go on this trip the following day but our hotel like most I believe let guest know when they are told the northern lights have a high possibility of making a appearance. So we booked the trip which is late at night around midnight the coaches are always full and you go on a drive a hour or so away and if your lucky get to see the amazing natural wonders in the sky. Don’t be fooled into thinking your definitely see them they are a lot rarer then people make out. I met a couple who and tried 3 previous nights and saw nothing but luckily the trips give you free rides until you see them. I went end of January when I know after research it’s strong possibility. They are truest spectacular but also be warned take a high quality camera as iPhones etc won’t capture this lucky for me 2 guys where friendly enough to take photos and as you can see by picture i had to take a picture of their screen!

If you ever get chance you have to go visit this country amazing place with so many spectacular places to visit. I would personally recommend going in the winter but I have been told summer it’s 24 hours daylight which is cool. Feel free to ask any questions.
