Eden Locke Hotel – Edinburgh

Eden Locke Hotel – Edinburgh

If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen that I was in Edinburgh at the weekend. As you know I love to travel, so I thought I would share with you where I stayed! Locke hotels is a small chain of aparthotels located in London (Leman Locke) , Manchester (Whitworth Locke) and Edinburgh (Eden Locke).

Eden locke - Edinburgh Scotland hotel Review

I flew into Edinburgh Airport and the hotel was only a 25 minute drive, it’s super easy to get to. If you’re getting the train it’s only a 10 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley station.

Eden Locke hotel is a Georgian townhouse located on George Street in the heart of the new town. It’s within walking distance from the cities major attractions such as Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street as well as being near to lots of bars, shops and restaurants. The location is great as you have everything on your door step! I thought it would be a little noisy at night-time but it was extremely tranquil and I had such a great sleep.

The interior is definitely a major selling point of this hotel – everywhere is so instagrammable. The rooms are finished to such a high spec and are extremely modern and sophisticated. I stayed in the Mezzanine Studio Apartment which looked out on to George Street – the room had huge windows and high ceilings which made it very bright and airy.

The rooms are a decent size each with a mini lounge area, corner sofa and kitchenette. There is plenty of wardrobe and storage space in the room which is ideal. They also have an ironing board / iron , hairdryer, robes, slippers and ear plugs. All rooms also have complimentary WiFi and a Smart TV.

All of the apartments come equipped with a kitchenette which has everything you need including an oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and kettle. They even leave tea, coffee, milk and porridge pots in the kitchen so you have everything you need.

There is also a cafe located on the ground floor which serves fresh coffee, juices and home-made pastries as well as cocktails. This is great if you’re on the go and just need to grab something on your way. I loved the decor of this space, very cool!

If you are visiting Edinburgh, I would highly recommend staying at Eden Locke. I hope to come back very soon….

GIFT IDEAS FOR MOTHER’S DAY

GIFT IDEAS FOR MOTHER’S DAY

Wondering what to get mum for Mother’s Day? The big day is under a week away (Sunday 11th !) so I’ve put together my top picks from Debenhams to help you find the perfect present. I love my mum to bits and I am a proper mummy’s boy! so I always look to spoil her as much as possible.

I always think mums can be difficult to buy for as they already seem to have everything! Whether you’re looking to spoil mum with her favourite beauty products or send her some flowers, Debenhams has something for all mums.

Why not treat her to a bottle of perfume? You can’t go wrong with the gift of fragrance, it’s always such a great present! Flowerbomb Nectar is the newest addition to the Flowerbomb collection, it recently launched in January. Viktor and Rolf has always been one of my mums go-to perfumes so I knew instantly that she would love this.

You can shop the Eau De Perfum here.

Or what about some scented candles? All women seem to love filling the house with candles so I went for the Yankee candles. They always make such a nice present, this gift set features 10 scented tea lights…. and is only £10!

You can shop the gift set here.

My mum loves trying out new skincare and beauty products  (probably where I get it from ha!) so I picked out this Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate. This serum is designed to work at night to replenish the skin.  My mum always likes to look her best and this promises to regenerate and restore skin overnight for smoother, healthier,  glowing skin by morning!

HOW TO PULL OFF THE SMART CASUAL LOOK

HOW TO PULL OFF THE SMART CASUAL LOOK

DEBENHAMS MENSWEAR

What does smart casual mean to you? It is hard to find the right balance – is it too smart? is it too casual? I have asked myself the same questions many times. Now the festive season is upon us we all have Christmas parties or drinks with friends planned which means we need a new outfit, right? I have teamed up with Debenhams to show you my smart casual look edit.

In my opinion you can wear any type of trouser when trying to pull off this look but I believe jeans work best. My choice of denim is dark blue slim fit or skinny fit.

A blazer makes the outfit and really pulls the whole look together. It is the perfect staple that everyman should have in their wardrobe as you can pair it up with different pieces. When adding formal pieces to my outfit the blazer is definitely my go to item, it helps create an effortless look. I chose the Grey textured weave blazer from Debenhams –  It is from the exclusive J by Jasper Conran range, crafted from a rich wool blend. Not only is the quality great but the fit is also perfect! I am wearing a size 40R, it is also available in big and tall sizes. Retails at £135.

I’ve kept it simple with a navy crew neck t-shirt, not only is it reasonable in price but it gives you that more casual style if you wanted it to take you from day to night. You can’t go wrong with a sleek simple t-shirt. I am wearing the J by Jasper Conran – Navy supima cotton crew neck t-shirt in a size medium. Retails at £15.

For footwear you can wear trainers but I prefer to wear a nice pair of shoes. You can then go straight from the boardroom to the bar. My choice of shoe to compliment this outfit are the Red Herring – Tan leather loafers. Loafers are one of my favourite type of shoe they are very versatile and go well with both jeans and chinos. They are made from genuine leather and come in an iconic loafer style with tasselled detailing. Retails at £52.

Accessories are essential for those who love detail. If you wanted to smarten the outfit up then you could add a nice pocket square or even a tie. I picked out this Hammond & Co by Patrick Grant – Wine red geometric print scarf to give the outfit some colour and it goes really well with the textured weaved blazer. Retails at £25.
